This collection consists largely of Hare's medical publications from 1898 to 1930. It also contains biographical material, his thesis and dissertation, a scrapbook of correspondence, photographs of his brain, and various ephemera.

The collection consists of materials by or about S. Weir Mitchell, MD, and his family from 1855-1954 (bulk 1855-1912). Types of material include addresses (1872-1897) mainly presented to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, medical journal articles (1863-1912 with gaps), and correspondence.

The collection consists of materials by or about Thomas D. Mutter, M.D. and the Mutter Museum from 1841-1884. The materials include addresses (1841-1851) given to Jefferson students (consisting of introductory lectures and charges to graduates), publications of syllabi for Jefferson courses (many interleaved with student notes), and two memoirs (1859) of Mutter, one written by R.J. Levis and the other by Joseph Pancoast.
