The bulk of the collection consists of materials related to Ellis' work in Siam from the 1920s to the 1930s. There are also a few items related to Jefferson Medical College such as Ellis' class president graduation speech, reunion pamphlets, and 1910 recommendation letter from J.W. Holland.

Also included in the collection is a booklet entitled Laws and Regulations of the Educational and Benevolent Institutions of Philadelphia, presented to J. L. Ludlow, M.D., for the 8th annual meeting of the A.M.A., 1855.
