The bulk of the collection consists of materials related to Ellis' work in Siam from the 1920s to the 1930s. There are also a few items related to Jefferson Medical College such as Ellis' class president graduation speech, reunion pamphlets, and 1910 recommendation letter from J.W. Holland.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of material by or about John Hill Brinton from 1805-1923 including addresses, correspondence, medical journal articles, genealogy, lectures, notes and certificates. The correspondence includes personal correspondence written by Brinton during his Civil War service to family members back home, letters of recommendation written by Brinton's commanding officers in the army, as well as official military orders/correspondence (many signed by Ulysses S. Also included in the collection is a booklet entitled Laws and Regulations of the Educational and Benevolent Institutions of Philadelphia, presented to J. L. Ludlow, M.D., for the 8th annual meeting of the A.M.A., 1855.
