Typed letter dated 10 Dec. 1892, George M. Gould to [W. W.] Keen concerning injurious statements allegedly made by Keen about the relative aptitude of certain JMC alumni for JMC faculty positions; accompanied by an undated printed circular to all alumni by H. A. Brous, M.D. proposing resolutions to be voted on by the Alumni Association; and a letter (ALS), H. A. Hare to Ross Patterson, 14 Sept. 1921, in which the letters were transmitted.
One letter dated Feb. 1, 1851 to Rugh from Dean R. M. Huston stating scheduled dates of examinations that month; one letter dated Mar. 1, 1851 to Rugh signed by Dean Huston informing Rugh of the faculty's decision to recommend him for receiving the M.D. degree.

Correspondents include Dudley Smith, L.W. Spriggs, and Oswald Beckman. Also included are addenda to a list (not found in the collection) of Jefferson men affected by the disaster.
Letters patent for a new dental tool adapted for forming a matrix for a cavity in a tooth, locating the matrix and permitting its own displacement without disturbing the matrix. Right, title and interest in the invention are signed over to James W. Ivory. Included are two advertisements for dental instruments by J. W. Ivory, Philadelphia.
Four ALS : Two from G.L. Scott, Philadelphia, 30 Dec. 1836 and 7 Feb. 1837, describing conditions as a medical student at the University of Pennsylvania; one ALS from J[ames?] M[anderville?] Carlisle, Washington, 18 July 1837, informing Guy of an appointment to the board in Philadelphia; and one ALS (fragment), author unknown, Philadelphia, 8 Dec. 1846, describing conditions as a student at Jefferson Medical College.
This collection contains material related to Scheffey's interest and research into medical history as well as correspondence (bulk 1920s-1950s), newspaper clippings, ephemera, diplomas and certificates, and photographs. The Albert Whitely Papers (MS 052) also contain student notes and tickets originally in this collection.
