Willis Fastnacht Manges was born December 4, 1876 in Luthersburg, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Jefferson Medical College in 1903, and as a student he was the first Jefferson to become a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha society. Shortly after graduation he became an Assistant Demonstrator of Surgery at JMC, in charge of x-ray services. In 1918 he was promoted to Clinical Professor of Roentgenology and in 1928 to full Professor. From 1904 until his death in 1936 Manges was also Head of the Department of Roentgenology. He died suddenly on November 24, 1936 of a heart attack.
