Photocopies of notes and letters pasted into the front pages of Lawrence Heister's General System of Surgery (8th ed., London, 1768). The notes document the book's successive ownership by John Groome, George McClellan, J. W. Mintzer, Samuel D. Gross, E. J. Groom, Samuel W. Gross, A. Haller Gross and John Chalmers Da Costa. The collection includes a letter handwritten by S. D. Gross thanking Dr. Mintzer for the book. The book is in Special Collections, Scott Memorial Library, Thomas Jefferson University.
