Scope and Contents
Copy of Peter Herbut's unpublished Farewell Address, written by him on August 20, 1975, and bound with a foreword written by a daughter in December 2018.
Dr. Herbut created Thomas Jefferson University in 1969 while president of Jefferson Medical College and Hospital and then guided the university's development as the university's first president. He wrote his Farewell Address, which is very personal and full of famous poems expressing his philosophy, several years before he expected to retire, but he died in 1976 so the address was never presented or published.
