A review of Thomas Jefferson University's current educational programs by comparing them against the extra-institutional criteria of the 1971 report of the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education entitled "Higher Education and the Nation's Health: Policies for Medical and Dental Education." Herbut reviews the report's recommendations for medical education and also advocates the establishment of a college of dentistry at Jefferson.
